Fulya Kocak is a multiple award-winning sustainability thought leader, educator, and author. A pioneer of the green building and ESG movement, Fulya’s experience spans more than two decades as a change agent and subject matter expert in multiple industries.

Former head of ESG for Nareit, national association representing real estate investment trusts and publicly-traded real estate companies in the U.S. In this role she provided guidance, oversight, and innovation for Nareit’s sustainability initiatives, publications, and programming within the real estate industry.
Since 2016, she has parlayed her experience and expertise into defining and shaping ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) in the real estate industry.
She is deeply engaged with the latest ESG developments, including investor focus areas; ESG reporting frameworks, standards, and ratings; and priority topics, such as climate change, social impact, and transitioning to a low-carbon economy.

A natural teacher, Fulya is driven to share her deep knowledge wherever she goes. Her mission is to equip sustainability leaders with the knowledge and tools they need to transform their organizations and industries.
To this end, she instructs sustainability and LEED workshops for corporations and organizations. She also offers self-directed sustainability courses on topics such as Green Building Concepts, LEED Certification, ESG and Sustainable Investing and Green Jobs for Sustainable Careers. To date, Fulya has educated over 200,000 learners on sustainability-related topics either in-person or virtually.
She is also the author of two sustainability books and a regular speaker at sustainability, real estate, investor, and academic conferences. Fulya has served on multiple boards, councils and committees, including the District of Columbia’s Green TAG, Chairwoman of USGBC National Capital Chapter Board, and Chair of Maryland Governor’s Green Building Council.
Fulya remains dedicated to creating impactful change through her work as a thought leader, connector, educator, and creator. Her current mission is to multiply the impact of her expertise and experience by serving as an advisor and educator for corporations and organizations on sustainability and ESG topics.
